Char Wood the Computer Granny and her late
husband Ron were the proud owners of the Adult Beginner's Computer
School in Daytona Beach Florida from 1999-2001.
In 1999 Granny had just graduated with a
degree in computer programming and software engineering. But it was while
she was attending class that a HUGE problem was brought to her attention.
Other members of her generation, who would
come into the college's computer lab had passed all of the schools
traditional "beginner's" classes with flying colors. BUT...they had no idea
how to really use a computer!
Something was wrong!
In June of 1999 the Woods' opened their
school in order to conduct the research necessary to discover why
traditional methods of teaching computer simply did not work for the
generation that did not grow up with them.
Upon losing her beloved husband Ron to
cancer at the age of 59 in 2002, Granny decided to continue their effort to
help the older generation learn computers on her own, keeping Ron's legacy
alive.
Today she lives in Edgewater, Florida
where she teaches and fixes computers for a living while takes care of her aging parents in her home.
Computer Granny is not some large
impersonal corporation. She's simply a self employed widow trying to do her
part to improve her little corner of the world.
The Care & Share program came about when
so many of her students that had used "Baby Step thru Computing" kept encouraging
her to find a way to bring her unique workbooks to those outside of her
general area.
A fundraising effort that her three grand
daughters were involved with, lead to the Care & Share program, and the rest is history as they say.
To date
Granny has sold over twenty thousand copies of her workbooks throughout the US
& Canada. If you'll allow her to do so, Granny can help your group
achieve it's worthy goal as well as bringing a quality computer education to
many who are looking for just that but are not even aware that Granny's
workbooks exist. It's a three way winning cycle. It doesn't get any better
than that.
You have help in achieving your goal, Granny furthers her
goal to help more people learn to use a computer, and your customers are delighted with the
product you've introduced them to.
Together we can help many!
