After
years of trying to introduce
Baby Step thru Computing to the people who want and need it
using "traditional" methods
with little success, Granny decided
to start thinking outside the box.
It seems that
the publishing industry as a whole makes it
nearly impossible for the "little guy", or
gal in this case, to bring their product to
market. It's the old catch 22
situation. If you're an unknown author, they
won't give you the time of day, so how do
you become a known author, even if the
product you have to offer is far superior to
literally anything else of its kind?
With that in
mind Granny consulted the professionals
at SCORE (Service Corps Of Retired
Executives) and learned that traditional
methods are not the only way to promote a
really great product!
So Granny got to
thinking...I've got two choices here.
1. I can
spend hundreds of thousands of
dollars on creating commercials,
paying for advertising time and
print advertising and hope
people hear my message.
OR
2. I can
use that same money to pay honest,
hard working, people who are looking
for a legitimate work at home
opportunity to contact local clubs,
groups and organizations to
introduce them to the Care & Share
Program.
People helping people had much more
appeal than making some huge
advertising company rich. So
another piece of the Care & Share
program fell into place.
There
is an age-old adage in the business
world that is synonymous with
developing a successful business.
That phrase is
find a need and fill it.
The
second rule is to
keep things as
simple as possible.
And the third is
to
create win-win situations all the
way around in your business
dealings.
So in keeping with those tried and
true traditions I’d like to present
you with the opportunity to become a
Computer Granny’s Care & Share
Program Coordinator.
What
3 particular needs does the Care &
Share program address?
1.
Many individuals are looking for a
legitimate way to
a.
Earn money from home doing something
that they can take pride in
b.
It must be able to be done in their spare time
c.
On their own schedule
d.
With no major investment
e.
No recruiting others into a business
to make money
f.
No time consuming sales meetings to
attend
g.
And no inventory to buy, or find room
for
Meaning ABSOLUTELY NO
PYRAMID SCHEMES!
2.
A great many of the clubs, groups,
and organizations all over the
country are struggling in this
economy to fund their countless
worthwhile projects. Without help
from within, or from the private
sector, many of these programs may
perish. Therefore, groups are always
looking for fun, easy, and
profitable ways to generate
revenue.
3.
People of the generation that did
not grow up with computers are
desperately looking for the right
tool, at the right price, to learn
how to use a computer with
confidence, that they’ll really understand.
Believe me, I know,
and I teach at senior centers. It's
really hard to use a computer when
you don't know the desktop from a
menu! And have no clue as to what a
file is or how to save one!
Three needs…three solutions…one
program.
Hi,
I’m Char Wood the Computer Granny.
I’d like to begin by telling you a
little bit about myself, my company,
and the reason why I’ve decided to
bring my product to those who need
it, in a most unconventional way.
Call it major profit sharing!
Way
back in 1997, while attending
college to get my degree in computer
programming and software
engineering, I found a need.
It
seemed that many of the senior
citizens who had come to the college
to take courses in basic computer
operation were passing all the
classes just fine. However, when it
came to actually “using” the
computers to do homework projects in
the lab where I worked, they didn’t
have a clue. Something was terribly
wrong.
To
make a very long story short, after
graduating with honors in 1999, my
late husband Ron (who worked as a
trainer for HP for 27 years) and I,
decided to open our own computer
school. The
Adult
Beginner’s
Computer
‘School,
in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Our
first challenge was to try and find
a suitable textbook for the senior
citizens who attended our classes.
Keeping in mind that some seniors
have special needs, we were looking
for the following criteria in
choosing the textbook for our
classes.
a.) It had to be in easy
to read large print.
b.) It had to be a hands-on
teaching book not a reference book.
(Our students did not know what
things were called, so how could
they look them up?)
c.) It had to be presented
in a common sense, logical order so
that everything made sense in a
short amount of time. (Our classes
were only 8 sessions.)
d.) However, it also had to
be presented in tiny little segments
so as not to overwhelm our
students.
e.) It had to actually teach
computer lingo, not assume that
everyone was born knowing this
strange language.
f.) And it had to have
click-by-click instructions so that
long after our students had
completed their class, should they
have a memory lapse, they would have
the click-by-click instructions for
every important task at their
fingertips when they needed to use
it.
We
thought that was reasonable! But
guess what? There was no such book
on the market…anywhere!
We
then looked at the video professor,
but that wouldn’t work either. They
actually use the technology and
lingo that students need to learn,
in a fatal attempt to teach them.
How could that possibly work?
And
the dummies books?
See item b above. Dummies
books state the whole problem right
on the cover! They make the claim
of being “The reference book for the
rest of us!” Not much good if you
don’t know what you’re looking for
or what
its called or why you need it!
Despite all odds, Success Story continues:
Having always had a dream to
becoming a writer some day, in mid
1999, I sat down and authored my
very first Baby Step thru Computing
guide for Windows 95 and the rest,
as they say, is history.
To
date I’ve sold over 20,000 copies of
my guides. In fact, book sales have
become a substantial part of my
monthly income and I’ve not even
begun to scratch the surface of
those who want and need them!
With
that in mind, you might wonder why I
don’t just step it into high gear
and keep all the profits for myself!
That’s a very long story as well,
but the biggest problem had been
that when my husband died from brain
tumors, at the age of 59, in January
of 2003, I was left virtually
penniless. Therefore, most of the so
called “small business assistance
programs” out there had more or less
told me that without half a million
dollars in working capital, they
couldn’t help me.
Then,
to make matters more challenging,
(but very rewarding mind you), two
months before my husband’s passing,
it became necessary for my aging
parents, who are now 78 & 80,
to move in with me.
Mom
has severe memory problems and Dad
is a disabled veteran in a
wheelchair who could no longer climb
the steps to their home. So, there
just never seems to be enough time
in a day to earn a living fixing
computers and teaching classes,
which puts food on the table and
pays the mortgage, take care of my
parents, and maintain my home. Never
mind promote my fabulous computer
guides, no matter how good they
are!. There is only one of me!
Having always been the successful,
entrepreneurial type, the most
frustrating thing to me was that I
knew for a fact, that there were
literally millions of seniors out
there, who are looking for exactly
what I have! But I simply could not
find the time to bring it to them!
So in
the true entrepreneurial spirit of
never giving up and creating win win
situations all the way around, I
developed the Care & Share program.
Your first comments are probably okay, that’s nice,
but how do I make money? How much
can I make? And how much is it going
to cost me?
To
become a Care & Share program
coordinator, you must have a good
telephone rapport and enjoy talking
on the phone. You must have basic
computer skills and be able to print
things from the net. You must have a
few hours per week to devote to your
ongoing projects and a desire to
help people.
The Care & Share Program:
With
people having less disposable income
in this economy, there are countless
clubs, groups, and organizations in
your community who could use some
help.
These
groups are always looking for fun
and unique ways to improve their
bottom line, in order to carry out
their many worthwhile projects
throughout the year.
In
fact, you’ll see them everywhere
having car washes, bake sales, and
old, worn out, fundraisers to
accomplish their goals.
Unfortunately, these methods of
creating revenue require a lot of
time and effort, for very little
return.
However, what if you were able to
offer them a totally unique program
whereby they’d…
-
Earn a full $10.00 from each
$19.95 sale!
-
With very little effort!
Because seniors want and need
what your offering them, but
it's not available in stores.
-
That can
be done in a short
amount of time (Average 2-3
weeks)!
-
With no up front
costs!
Do
you think they just might be
interested in hearing about it?
Of
course they would! And all you have
to do to earn money is introduce
them to the Care & Share program.
They’ll do the selling; and you earn
money just for introducing them to
the program!
So what could that mean to you
income wise?
Granny will provide you with your
Care & Share program coordinators
training kit (A $48.00 value)
absolutely free! All you pay is
small shipping and handling charges
of $14.95 that you can get back the
same day you get your kit, should
you desire to do so, with very
little effort.
Let’s
conduct a hypothetical Care & Share
Program for demonstration purposes.
Let’s
say that as a result of the
information you received in your
training kit, you have decided to
contact a local dance school who is
trying to raise funds to go to the
state nationals, or perhaps a 4-H
club, or church organization. The
group has a very big job ahead of
them trying to raise the thousands
of dollars that will be needed to
achieve their goals.
For
statistical purposes, we’ll say that
there are 50, eager; volunteers who
want to help them with their
efforts.
The
Care & Share group sales materials
that Granny provides to the group
free of charge after submitting an
online form, states the name of the
Program Coordinator who has
introduced them to the program.
The
sales kit is full of valuable
information and encourages each
participant to sell just 10 copies
of Granny’s Baby Step thru Computing
guide at the cover price of only
$19.95 plus tax and a small shipping
charge to maximize the groups
efforts.
A
successful completion of the program
in as little as 2-3 weeks can net
the group a tidy sum of $100.00 per
participant, ($10.00 per book) or
$5000.00 right off the top, with
nothing for them to buy, no
complicated paper work, no
minimum sales quotas, and no
continuing obligation.
The
group simply takes prepaid orders,
on the professionally done order
forms they'll be provided with,
submits the order to Granny with the
remainder of the collected funds
after retaining their profit.
Granny then processes the order,
delivers guides to the group for
distribution, and cuts
you,
the program coordinator, a check
for your efforts in introducing them
to the program. It’s that simple.
Here is what you would earn, as the
program coordinator, from this
scenario!
50
participants x 10 guides = 500
guides sold by the group. Your
compensation on each guide sold is
$2.00 per copy. So after the groups
order is received and processed,
you’d have earned $1000.00 from this
ONE Care & Share program! Imagine if
you had two or three groups
conducting a similar program per
month! Or perhaps larger groups!
What
do you think? Would it be worth your
time to seek out these groups and
offer them your help?
When you care enough to share the
gift of knowledge, everyone wins!
